“I genuinely believe we made a difference for the families and their children here in Larache”

To be a part of a team that comes from all over the world, wanting to help and improve the quality of life for families here in Morocco is wonderful, and rewarding, but it is admittedly challenging as well. Before I came to Morocco I felt secure in my role as a speech-language pathologist. However in a new nation, and thus a new family culture, you are challenged to realize and accept that your way of doing things, …is not necessarily the only (nor the best) way of doing things. This is an incredibly transformative realization for a practitioner, and something a textbook will simply never be able to teach you. I am leaving the project with new experiences and education, new memories and friends, but most importantly, a feeling of gratitude that somehow, in some way, I genuinely believe we made a difference for the families and their children here in Larache."
